Computing
At Hannah Ball Academy, our Computing curriculum from Year 1 through to Year 6, fully integrates the three core strands of Information Technology, Computer Science, and Digital Literacy. Utilising Purple Mash, pupils systematically build essential modern skills—progressing from foundational mouse control, digital art, basic instructions, and simple block coding in Key Stage 1 to advanced topics such as spreadsheets, database querying, 3D modelling, Artificial Intelligence, and text-based Python programming by Year 6.
Every year group engages in half-termly units designed to foster creativity, computational thinking, and real-world problem-solving. Crucially, online safety education is embedded year-round through our dedicated 2BeSafe framework ("Being Safe in a Digital World"), empowering pupils to navigate digital relationships, online reputation, privacy, and content critically and securely at every stage of their primary education.
