Sustainability
At Hannah Ball Academy, we are passionate about looking after our amazing planet! We believe that even the smallest hands can make the biggest difference. We are on an exciting journey to learn about recycling, saving energy, food waste, and becoming brilliant Eco Warriors!
Sustainability is not just a word – it is how we live and learn! Through fun, hands-on activities, lessons and events, our pupils are exploring how to be responsible global citizens. We are actively working to make our school and community a greener place, one step at a time.
We are committed to embedding sustainability into all areas of life. At Hannah Ball Academy, we teach our children the vital values of respect for the environment and thoughtful resource management.

Hannah Ball Academy is proud to be part of the Let’s Go Zero campaign, working with a dedicated Climate Action Advisor to create a tailored Climate Action Plan and embed sustainability into every aspect of school life. We are proud to have joined the national Let’s Go Zero campaign to become a zero-carbon school by 2030.

We signed up in September 2025 to the WOW Challenge. This is a walk-to-school challenge for the whole academic year, and it aims to support climate change. We are promoting students to think about how they travel to and from school daily, and also support health and fitness.
Modeshift Stars

In September 2025, we had our travel plan approved by Modeshift Stars Education. In January 2026, we achieved the 'Good' accreditation from Modeshift Stars Education. We are proud of the journey we are on for the National School Travel Awards.
Cut your carbon
In November 2025, as a community, we got involved in 'cut your carbon'. We informed the children about carbon, carbon emissions and how to reduce this. We set them 6 challenges to cut their carbon for the month. Our impact report is below.

Bag2School
In January 2026, we organised an event to collect unwanted textiles. This collection included clothes, shoes, hats, belts, handbags and soft toys. Our school brought in 84kg worth of textiles, and we raised £25.20 for our school. Thank you to our whole community for getting involved in such a great sustainability fundraiser!
